Door bell that literally rings a bell!
This bell literally rings when someone presses your doorbell! This automatic bell was developed for a customer who wanted it at his house, to have a novel door bell, after he saw it in a movie!

Background

When a good customer of ours approached us asking if we could build a door bell that "literally rings a bell" when someone rings it, we were amused and thrilled because of the fun quotient.

A new apprentice in our lab, was also thrilled to build such a bell. It was developed and fabricated in our lab. The cast iron grill we sourced to be made part of this bell gave the added vintage appeal.

Product and Technology Description

The bell has a cam like mechanism to give a yank to the bell's clapper. Also, it has a sensor to control the motor to park the cam mechanism exactly at a position where it is ready to fire for the next ring. The entire system is controlled by a small 8-bit microcontroller.

A geared motor operates the cam like mechanism, which in turn rings the bell. The Bell can be either single shot or continuous ringing if button is held down. The bell incorporates a sensor to ensure cam is adjusted and left in just exact position for correctly starting the next ring.
