We developed these Ultra low speed (0.1-1kmph) programmable treadmill, with a rugged patient holding harness, for a Neural Rehabiltation center, which specializes in treatment neural disorders.
Background
This ultra slow medical treadmill was developed for a Neural Rehabilitation center in Bengaluru called NEWRO.
We had earlier developed a first version of similar treadmill where the patient suspending harness and treadmill were integrated to a single structure. However, this second version, we had separated the harness/structure to suspend the patient and the treadmill unit so more variety of physiothearpy can be done using the combination.

This treadmill had a powerful BLDC Motor, and also a sophisticated control system and User interface. The User interface can be used to change direction (Forward/Backward)/vary the speed from 0.1 to 1 kmph maximum speed. During the course of therapy often the physiotherapist will physically lift the leg of patient and place it forward for some extreme cases!
This treadmill provides high torque that can withstand weight of upto 3 people and still peform well.
This version, the Patient suspension harness structure was made into a separate wheeled structure, with a motorized winch. This allows patients to be exercised both on floor and treadmill for various situation. The Winch is capable of handling a person of upto 200kgs in weight.

We also built a soft engineered harness which can be put on a patient without hurting him in any part, and load distributed to different points of engagement on body. This allows patient to be held by the winch mechanism ensuring even if patient tried to fall, the patient will not fall!

Product and Technology Description
The treadmill also had a novel automation feature where it can be driven programatillcally from a Serial port to build advance methods of therapy and integrating this treadmill with additional systems that are necessary for therapy.
