Project KOORMA: Smart features of the Koorma Platform

Koorma platform has smart concepts implemented like automatic turn, headlights, brake, reverse lights control. It also has extensible Payload framework on chassis and plug-n-play remote control extention to control payloads!

Background

A rugged, waterproof robotic chassis built for both military and civilian applications, supporting autonomous and remote-controlled modes.

To enhance both functionality and visual feedback, multi-color LED indicators are integrated into the chassis. These LEDs serve a system status, operational mode, and diagnostic alerts,comms status and enhance operational visibility.

Smart Lights Features

  1. LEDs ON Indication
    • White, Red -koorma booted and currently stopped
    • White, Red, Green - koorma booted, currently stopped, and RF remote has initiated communication
    • White, Green - koorma is powered on and RF remote is successfully connected
  2. Left Amber LED ON
    • Indicates: koorma is moving or turning towards the left.
  3. Right Amber LED ON
    • Indicates: koorma is moving or turning toward the right.
  4. Left + Right Amber LEDs ON
    • Indicates: koorma is rotating on-axis (in-place rotation).
  5. White LED ON
    • Indicates: koorma is moving in reverse direction.
  6. White + Left Amber LEDs ON
    • Indicates: koorma is moving in reverse left direction
  7. White + Right Amber LEDs ON
    • Indicates: koorma is moving in reverse right direction.
  8. Sharp Turn Indications - Forward Right (Right Amber slow blink)
    • Behavior: koorma performs a sharp right turn.
    • Action: Left wheel is stopped, right wheel moves forward.
  9. Sharp Turn Indications - Forward Left (Left Amber slow blink)
    • Behavior: koorma performs a sharp left turn.
    • Action: Right wheel is stopped, left wheel moves forward.
  10. Sharp Turn Indications - Reverse Right (Right Amber slow blink)
    • Behavior: koorma performs a sharp right turn in reverse.
    • Action: Right wheel is stopped, left wheel moves in reverse.
  11. Sharp Turn Indications - Reverse Left (Left Amber slow blink)
    • Behavior: koorma performs a sharp left turn in reverse.
    • Action: Left wheel is stopped, right wheel moves in reverse.

Koorma is turning towards the left.

Koorma is turning towards the right.

Koorma is moving in reverse direction.


Plug-n-Play Payload Remote!

The Payload remote control just plugs into the Mobility Remote of Koorma and piggy backs on its RF communication stack to send commands to the payload.
