USB2USART with MOSFET Driven Low Voltage (3v3 or lower) Capabilities!
This sophisticated USB2USART PCB was developed in-house by us for developinbg low level drivers for USART driven camera, Sensors and modules. This helps connect to low power devices communicating in USART in a safe way.

Background

At the heart of this USB2USART board is a SiLabs CP2102 Chip that translates USB to USART protocol. However we have added MOSFET based low voltage USART circuits so using standard PC USB Port, you can communicate with a Low voltage (3.3 Volts or lower) devices.

Several low voltage devices in market have Power supply operating at 5V but USART signal pins operating at 3.3 Volts. This USB2USART even allows direct connection to such devices too. The board generates 3.3V on board from the 5V supply of USB port.

Description of features of the USB2USART board.
Any non standard USART device which operates lower than 3.3V are supported by using an external low voltage supply.

How it was built?

We developed nearly 3 versions of this USB2USART board in house, before something that can be given out to others was finalized. This handy utility tool is extremely useful while developing low level drivers for Communication modules like WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee or RF modules which operate using USART.

Using a RealTerm or Tera Termsimilar program on PC the device driver can be developed easily without getting into too much of a hardware hassles.
